As I mentioned in my previous post, the Chinese New Year(CNY) meals that I'm used to have generally been very meat focused. According to my mom, historically, meat was a luxury that only the rich could afford.
With all the savory dishes eaten during Chinese New Year(CNY), it's time to sweeten things up with a little dessert. Although you can buy pineapple tarts at your local Asian market anytime of the year, there's something so special about making and eating homemade batches of this dessert. These are a must - have in my family during CNY!
It's almost Valentine's Day and that means it's time for me to bake some treats for my loved ones! Thumbprint cookies are one of SHU's favorites, so when I saw this recipe, I knew I had to make it. They are rich and delicious, not overly sweet, and not to mention absolutely adorable. I love the cream cheese in the cookies mixed with the strawberry jam. It creates a divine subtle cheesecake flavor. Now that I’ve tried these cookies with cream cheese, I don’t think I’ll be going back to the traditional recipe again! To take it to another level, these babies are rolled in coconut. I love the addition of coconut because it adds another level of flavor and also makes the cookies look more elegant.
SHU and I love home style cooked Chinese food. When I think of comfort food, I think of dishes that my mom and my grandma used to make for my family. I learned how to make this Shanghainese style pork belly dish from my mom. Every time I make this dish for SHU, it always reminds me of home.</ p >

<p>This slow cooked pork belly is so succulent and melts in your mouth. Of course this isn't a dish you would eat daily. But if you're looking to treat yourself and indulge in something that's rich and delicious, give this recipe a try. You'll fall in love with the juicy layers of the pork belly and the flavorful tofu ties.
I have claimed to be a smoothie loving girl, so I think it's time to bring out some smoothie recipes! I have debated whether to post smoothies recipes, since it's really just a mix of whatever you feel like throwing in the blender. But for those who are just looking for some ideas and inspiration for your next smoothie, this one is for you. :)
